Agriculture Secretary visits McCain’s Plover factory

PLOVER – On February 4, McCain Foods USA welcomed Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Commerce and Consumer Protection Secretary Randy Romanski to its Plover processing plant.

Secretary Romanski toured McCain’s factory operations and met with company executives to discuss trade-related issues and McCain’s commitment to sustainability.

“We were proud to showcase our Plover plant and the 478 people who operate it during a productive tour with Secretary Romanski and we thank him for his visit,” said Ed White, Plant Manager, McCain Foods USA. . “In addition to touring the factory operations, where local potatoes are turned into delicious French fries, we discussed McCain’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. We have set our company’s goal towards producing planet-friendly food to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. Local growers, the Plover community and team members at our potato processing plants all play a vital role in helping McCain achieve its sustainability goals and we are proud to highlight those efforts today.

“Wisconsin is a top potato-producing state with more than 3.1 billion pounds of potatoes produced in 2020,” Romanski said. “I appreciate today’s visit and thank McCain Foods for sharing more information about its operations. From farmers to processors and transporters to retailers, everyone involved in this industry depends on each other.
