WARREN, ME: On Wednesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m., Vintage Accents Auctions will present “Far East Flair,” a sale of more than 500 lots of Chinese antiques, artifacts and decorative accessories, including porcelain objects, fine furniture, paintings & drawings, sculptures, textiles, antiques, and enamel & metal work.
Featured Chinese porcelain lots include: a pair of blue and white lidded temple jars with a Phoenix bird and trailing lotus decoration; a 19and Century Chinese white figure of legendary Buddhist monk Bodhidharma sitting above the waves; and a pair of scroll vases with painted scenes of women and children playing in a garden.
A variety of furnishings will be on offer, such as: a black lacquered robe cabinet painted with flowers, scholarly tools, and symbols of fortune, with three interior shelves; a start of 20and Century Tibetan polychrome painted chest; and a “Kang” shaped low elm wood storage unit.
A watercolor and ink painting of lotus flowers and sturgeons by Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) and “The historical story of twenty-four filial sons” in the early 20and A book of watercolors on rice paper of the century will lead the selection of two-dimensional works of art.
Among the many carved pieces in the sale will be a delicate boxwood sculpture of a standing Guanyin figure, probably created during the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1662-1722); and two jade cong vessels; and a variety of carved jade amulets, sculptures, and utensils.
Other items of interest will include: an archaic shaped Peking glass lidded jar, a bronze lidded censer with foo dog finial; a pair of glazed pottery burial offering urns from the Song Dynasty; and a set of two enamel on copper snuffboxes.
Items for sale can be viewed online beginning January 27, 2022, and participants can register and place pre-auction (or absentee) bids any time before 10:00 a.m. EST on February 9. The live auction will begin at 10:00:00 a.m. EST on February 9, and registered participants can place bids on items as they come up for sale.
