Among the building’s features: rare growth chambers, 25-foot greenhouses that can house any crop, and several core labs specializing in mass spectrometry, measuring volatile or chemical compounds that plants use to communicate, and machines that can rapidly sequence not only plants but also the microbes and other living organisms within them.
The NC State Plant Sciences Building will bring together researchers from various disciplines to support collaborations within the university and external collaborations with industry, government, and other academic research institutions.
