(WFSB) – A beautiful weekend awaits the state, as well as great events for families.
Here’s Family Friday for the weekend of August 12.
First, a special movie event taking place on Friday night under the moonlight in Mansfield.
The Mansfield Town Center Partnership is hosting the free event in Betsy Paterson Square in Storrs Town Centre.
The movie that will be shown is “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”.
Show time is at 7:30 p.m.
People should bring a blanket or lawn chair and snacks.
Keep in mind that no alcohol or tobacco products are allowed.
In South Windsor, the Wood Memorial Library and Museum is hosting a free event to learn about the animals and plants in the village of Nowashe.
Think of it as an interactive history lesson and involves two scavenger hunts.
Attendees will also learn how Native Americans used plants to make a ton of things, including diapers.
There will also be a variety of skins and animal skins at your fingertips.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The sights and sounds of Broadway will come to Norwalk this weekend.
It’s also Disney themed.
Head to Mathews Park from 3:30-8 p.m. for a live performance of “Moana,” “Encanto,” “Aladdin,” and “Hamilton.”
Relax, pack a picnic and sing along.
In addition, food trucks will be on site.
It will take place every weekend with different Disney productions until the end of the month.
