SWCD will organize an open day for the sale of trees and plants

The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District tree sale and open house will take place on January 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The in-person event takes place in Meeting Rooms 1 and 2 of the Crow Wing County Land Services Building, 322 Laurel St., Brainerd, adjacent to the Crow Wing SWCD office.

24th annual sale helps landowners purchase high quality native trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses; since 1999, 842,652 trees have been sold.

Discounts will be offered to participants during the open house. The rebate includes a $ 10 rebate on tree sales orders over $ 100.

Native trees for sale include white pine, white spruce, American wild plum, paper birch, red oak, and more. To order and for photos and descriptions of all trees, plants and seed mixtures, visit www.cwswcd.org. The order deadline is February 25th.

Trees and plants will be available for pickup from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 12 and 13 at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds Curling Building at 2000 SE 13th St. in Brainerd.

The open house includes presentations from local environmentalists. Andrew Herberg will give a presentation on non-game species and their impact on forest management, and Rachael Dube, a specialist from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, will give a presentation on the health of local forests.
